Booked your first escape room with friends? Excited, or perhaps a little nervous? There is no need to worry. These tips will help you get the most from your first game.
01
Talk — a lot
Communication is the most important thing once you enter the room. If you notice an object or detail that might relate to a puzzle, tell the whole team immediately. A minor discovery may be exactly what another player needs. Read things aloud, suggest ideas and share every observation: coordination saves time and keeps the game moving.
02
Move on when you need to
If one puzzle is taking too long, ask someone else to look at it. A fresh pair of eyes may catch what you missed. Swap roles and return later; this resets the team’s energy, prevents frustration and preserves the pace of the game.
03
Spread out around the room
Progress slows when everyone crowds around the same puzzle. Split into smaller groups and inspect different areas in parallel. Each pair or trio can search another part of the room, then bring the discoveries together for the team to solve.
04
Check the places that look unimportant
It sounds obvious, yet many clues are hidden where people rarely look. Do not focus only on prominent objects: check drawers, behind pictures, beneath furniture and in small corners, while following the operator’s rules. Sometimes the solution is waiting in the least noticeable place.
05
Do not dismiss surprising ideas
Has someone suggested something that sounds completely strange? Give it a chance if it is safe and allowed. Unusual ideas often create a breakthrough. Even when one does not work, it can point the group towards an approach nobody else had considered.
06
Listen to the game master — they are on your side
The game master will brief you before the game, and every detail matters. They explain what to look for, what not to touch and how to request help. Following the instructions prevents wasted time on objects or areas outside the game, and the briefing may even offer a useful starting point.
07
Cannot find the answer? Ask for a hint
Every team gets stuck. If you are going in circles without making progress, do not lose valuable game time — ask the operator for a hint. Many rooms allow hints without taking away the sense of achievement, and one small nudge can put the entire team back on track.
08
Stay calm and enjoy the experience
Remember that the point is to have fun. Escape rooms are designed to be challenging, so do not become angry or lose hope when an answer does not come immediately. You may be one step away. Even if you do not finish in time, solving problems and sharing the experience as a team are still worthwhile.
09
Leave the drama outside
An escape room is not the place to settle arguments or debate who was right. This is a shared mission, not a competition between friends. Cooperate, encourage each other and remember that everyone is on the same side: the team trying to finish before time runs out.
10
Do not overcomplicate things
Escape-room puzzles are built around logic. Players sometimes invent an elaborate explanation when the intended answer is much simpler. Do not analyse every mark as though it were a doctoral thesis or waste time on details with no meaning. Try the obvious possibility and trust your intuition.
11
Come prepared — including what you wear
Some rooms require movement, bending, crawling or passing between areas. Sportswear is not necessary, but comfortable clothes and shoes will let you move freely and enjoy the game without distraction.
12
Is an escape room good for a first date?
On one hand, it is an original experience that can break the ice and immediately give you something to share. On the other, pressure and excitement can reveal sides of your personalities that you might prefer to discover later. Coffee may be a calmer start for a very first meeting. But if you both love puzzles and challenges and already have chemistry, an escape room can be a wonderful way to connect.

Quest Room’s escape rooms in Haifa
Quest Room opened Haifa’s first escape room and was among the early operators to develop the format in northern Israel. Today the complex has eight escape-room games at one address, placing it among Israel’s largest and most varied escape-room complexes and among the most prominent in the north. In each game, a team enters a story world for about 60 minutes, searches for clues, deciphers codes and uses only items intended for play, in line with the briefing, to complete the mission.
These games have several names — escape room, puzzle room or Quest Room — but all describe a team adventure to share with friends, family or a partner.
The complex is easy to reach whether you are coming from Haifa, Nesher, the Krayot, Zikhron Ya’akov, elsewhere in northern Israel or the centre of the country. Choose a room and book a game, or buy a gift card for friends or family.
