How to Choose an Escape Room That Is Right for Your Group

A practical guide to choosing an escape room by group size, experience, difficulty, location, story and style of challenge.

The Quest Room guideAbout 8 minutes

If friends have been sharing escape-room photos and you are ready to try one yourself, it helps to compare more than the theme before booking.

Start with the group: who is joining, how much experience everyone has, what atmosphere you enjoy and how convenient the location is. This guide covers the questions to ask before choosing a room and time slot.

01 · Match the game to the group

How many people are playing?

Start with the group itself. Is this a date for two, a family outing or a team-building activity for an entire department?

Many escape rooms are designed for groups of 2–6, while some accommodate 10 or even 20 players. Certain venues can run parallel scenarios, which works well for competitions, birthdays and special events.

A large group can feel crowded in a small room, while two players may struggle to maintain momentum in a particularly complex game. Check the recommended team size, not only the technical maximum.

02 · Look beyond the name

Choose with your group in mind

Whether you are booking in Haifa or elsewhere in northern Israel, the room should match the players’ ages, experience and expectations. Are you looking for action, horror, humour or a dramatic story?

View the photos, read the summary and consider the puzzle style, pace and atmosphere as well as capacity. Ask in advance about children, fear sensitivity, physical limitations and accessibility needs.

03 · A challenge without frustration

Match the difficulty to your experience

For a first escape room, an easy or medium difficulty is usually the best introduction. It gives the group time to understand how the game works and enjoy the story without depending on frequent hints.

Experienced players may prefer a harder room requiring creative thinking, precise teamwork and close attention to detail. Check the recommended level online or by phone, and choose with the least experienced member of the group in mind.

04 · Plan the journey as well

A convenient location matters

Booking without checking the exact location can lead to parking problems, a difficult entrance or a late arrival. Find out whether parking is nearby, whether it is paid, how far you need to walk and whether public transport is practical.

When choosing an escape room in Haifa, a location near a railway station, central bus station or familiar landmark can save time, effort and sometimes money — especially when players are arriving from different areas.

Address, parking and directions

05 · Keep the time you want

Do not leave booking until the last minute

Escape rooms are especially popular at weekends, on holidays and on Thursday evenings. Book ahead online or by calling 04-300-5001 if you need a particular room and time, especially for a large group or event.

Some venues offer duplicate or parallel scenarios so two groups can play at the same time. If you want a head-to-head competition, confirm that the option is available on your chosen date.

Many complexes also offer daytime sessions, which can suit students, shift workers and families who prefer a morning activity.

Options for large groups

06 · Enter a world everyone enjoys

Choose a story that suits the whole group

One of the best things about escape rooms is becoming part of a different story each time. A game might take place in a prison, secret laboratory, haunted house, spacecraft or a world inspired by a familiar film.

Discuss the theme before booking. One player may dislike horror while another actively wants tension and scares. Choosing together makes it more likely that everyone will take part and enjoy the experience.

07 · Define your priorities

What kind of escape room are you looking for?

Escape rooms come in many styles and are not all built around the same priorities. Decide what matters most to your group.

  • Would you prefer an original story or a setting inspired by a well-known film or television series?
  • Should the focus be on logic puzzles, or on atmosphere, scenery and immersion?
  • How many people will play, and is the room comfortable for more than six or seven participants?
  • Do you want physical elements such as crawling, moving between spaces, special lighting or sound effects?

Once you know which style appeals to the group, choosing an escape room in Haifa or northern Israel becomes much easier and you are less likely to book a poor match.

08 · From planning to playing

09 · From knowledge to experience

Quest Room’s escape rooms in Haifa

Quest Room opened Haifa’s first escape room and was among the early operators to develop the format in northern Israel. Today the complex has eight escape-room games at one address, placing it among Israel’s largest and most varied escape-room complexes and among the most prominent in the north. In each game, a team enters a story world for about 60 minutes, searches for clues, deciphers codes and uses only items intended for play, in line with the briefing, to complete the mission.

These games have several names — escape room, puzzle room or Quest Room — but all describe a team adventure to share with friends, family or a partner.

The complex is easy to reach whether you are coming from Haifa, Nesher, the Krayot, Zikhron Ya’akov, elsewhere in northern Israel or the centre of the country. Choose a room and book a game, or buy a gift card for friends or family.
